Exciting Times…
“When my partner, the late Mr. P.K. Ojong and I opened the doors of the first Gramedia Bookstore in 1970, we were both very aware of the challenges that Indonesia and its people faced. We knew that education and a love of reading would be vital in helping average Indonesians overcome the many economic barriers they faced.

“Over the last 35 years, I have personally witnessed the vast transformation of a nation and its people and I would like to believe that Gramedia has helped contribute in some small way to that growth.

“Today we stand on the cusp of a new era for Indonesia. The whole economy is gearing up for a massive improvement in productivity and living standards. Our government is dedicated to modernizing and globalizing Indonesia and the future has never looked more exciting or rewarding.

“To make the most of the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, Gramedia will be focusing on its commitment to participate in the intellectual development of Indonesians so they can compete and thrive in this new era.

The future is about global competition and Indonesians must be equipped to participate and succeed!”
